JOB: Web Developer - New York City - Whitney Museum of American Art - Full Time

Reporting to the Information Technology Director, the Web Developer is
responsible for all technological development and support of whitney.org,
bulk e-mail, multimedia projects, and web-based promotions and campaigns as
requested; implements standards, evaluates functional design, and tests
usability; translates visual and interaction design into a dynamic user
experience; provides technical support to databases supporting fundraising,
membership, mailing lists, retail, ticketing, museum collections, digital
asset management, and event management; manages the database to achieve
desired performance and reliability results. The Web Developer¹s workload is
managed by the Interactive Marketing Manager, who is responsible for
managing all content and strategic development of whitney.org and
electronic-based promotion.

General Requirements: B.A., 3+ years experience with web site development
and maintenance; creative and has a keen eye for clean user interface
implementation and knowledge of web site design best practices; skill and
experience planning data flows for a new or revised database; maintains data
and web 2.0 standards, including writing of documentation, procedures, and
definitions; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
skills; good organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong QA
skills. Interest in contemporary visual art preferred.

Technical Requirements: Demonstrated proficiency with web design and
implementation (e.g., HTML, DHTML, XML, Perl/ CSS, Java, Flash, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Acrobat InDesign, WebTrends, TextMate etc.); proficiency in
planning, installing, and maintaining relational databases and in using
database tools, including MY SQL in conjunction with PHP and JSP; strong
ability to write and troubleshoot PHP JSP-based websites; background in
managing Linux-based server environment; familiarity with the Eclipse
Integrated Development Environment a plus.
