hey all,

there have been a few education related threads lately, and it got me
thinking about what i could do to sort of "brush up" ... going back to
school full time isn't really in the cards for me, and the part
time/single courses offered near home aren't really interesting.

so, i was wondering if anybody here has done any of the Cooper U four
day programmes. are they generally worth while? are there other
intensive programmes like that for IxD? i tried searching the list
archives, but all i could find was info about full time programmes.

matt.

I just finished doing the four day UX Intensive that Adaptive Path offers. I found it enjoyable - it's not focused entirely on IxD, though.
The four days covered:

Design Strategy
Design Research
Info Architecture
Interaction Design

If it comes near you, it might be worth your time. :D

I attended the Cooper U 4 day course this past December. It is well
worth it in my book. I come from a User Centered Design and Usability
background, so some of the topics that covered performing initial user
research I was already pretty familiar with. However, seeing how to
take the results from that research and then build not just
persona's but conceptual designs was invaluable.

In the future I hope to attend their other two courses, Communicating
Design and Visual Interface Design.

Plus, the breakfast they provide is amazing!!!

Just came back from the 4-day Interaction Design Practicum at Cooper
in early February. Like Brad, I have a UCD/Usability and Visual
design background and was impressed with how they actually
implemented the Goal Directed Design Process.

It's definitely tailored for the real world. Their focus on
ethnographic research, contextual scenarios, sketching, whiteboarding
and a very in-depth look at creating personas creates a workable
methodology that can be tailored to any project.

Great group of inspiring participants and instructors. I'm hoping to
get some time off to take their other courses.
