Interaction Designer - Large, Consumer Site

Title: Interaction Designer
Location: San Francisco
Compensation: to low 100's + bonus

A well-known, large, consumer site with millions of consumers is seeking
an Interaction Designer to lead user-centered design processes to ensure
that Web-based products, applications and marketing pages are easy to
use and help its customers to meet their needs and our business partners
to fulfill their goals. The Interaction Designer will deal primarily
with the redesign of browser-based enterprise software, including
employee-facing sales and service interfaces across a wide variety of
products.

Responsibilities:
* Assist business partners in turning high-level business
requirements into more specific project requirements
* Conduct user and task analyses to define user needs (user
scenarios, persona/profile building and interpretation)
* Develop high-level information flows and navigation systems
(concept diagrams, flow charts, site maps, etc.)
* Drive implementation of functionality through research and usability
testing
* Develop detailed user experience specifications (wireframes,
schematics, storyboards)
* Work with visual designers to ensure the look and feel of given
initiatives meets intended user interaction
* Participate in the development of product prototypes for usability
testing and proof-of-concept purposes
* Participate in usability tests by helping to define methodology,
conducting walk-throughs and developing reports
* Represent proposed solutions to business partners

Qualifications:
* More than three years of Web-application interaction design and/or
information architecture experience
* Undergraduate or graduate degree in fields such as HCI, Human Factors,
Information Architecture preferred
* Demonstrated knowledge of the software application design and creation
process, particularly how it pertains to Web development
* Ability to understand and interpret existing site design and style
guides and create effective solutions within those guidelines
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written
and graphic-design formats with staff as well as business and technology
partners
* Conceptual understanding of a range of Web-related technologies,
including HTML, DHTML, CSS, XML and JavaScript
* Working knowledge of interaction-design tools including Visio,
InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar software
* Strong organizational skills
* A deadline and detail-oriented approach

A personalized shopping, research and discovery social networking
website is seeking a Interaction Designer. The ideal candidate will have
produced powerful, yet simple-to-use consumer Web applications that have
been used by millions of users, and he/she will have solid skills with
HTML coding. We are seeking a combination of a left-brain analytical
UI/ID/IA designer with a right-brain Visual Design aesthetic.

Responsibilities:

* Work with Product Managers, Product Architects, the Marketing team and
developers
* Design new features and improve existing ones
* Create workflows, annotated wireframes, interactive models, prototypes
and functional specs
* Advocate and shepherd usability and conduct usability studies
* Improve GUI infrastructure, methods and processes
* Align site UI with branding initiatives
* Design landing pages and other online marketing materials

Must be able to:

* Effectively aggregate and communicate ideas, design, and rationale
both verbally and visually
* Understand business needs, weigh various approaches and tradeoffs

Experience:
