Hi,
some week ago I attend a wonderful BayCHI session with Bill Verplank. He talked about metaphors and actually sketched them live in front of the audience. He also provided a framework for different computer paradigms - that's BTW the cover of Bill Moggridge' book on Designing Interactions.

One of the highlights of my career was taking a one-day workshop from
Bill Verplank at CHI 89. (For all everyone likes to "dis" the CHI
conferences, there have been some seminal workshops and presentations
over the years.)
It's one of the many reasons why I'm extremely tickled that Bill will
be presenting the UI13 Spotlight Keynote next week.

We will also have a great workshop on sketching at
interaction'09|vancouver.
http://interaction09.crowdvine.com/talks/show/2575
Highlights from the workshop:
* Be introduced to design sketching
* Explore what design sketching is and how it is different from fine
art drawing
* Learn quick and dirty techniques for representing people, things,
places and ideas
* Familiarize yourself with scenario sketching
* Take part in a group drawing project
