"We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor
experiences. IxDA intends to improve the human condition by advancing the
discipline of Interaction Design.

To do this, we foster a community of people that choose to come together to
support this intention. IxDA relies on individual initiative, contribution,
sharing and self-organization as the primary means for us to achieve our

IxDA's mission is NOT to exist for its own sake. The minute it comes down
to defending IxDA's existence simply so it can exist is the day we should
shut its virtual doors. But that's not where we are. Our mission is to
advance the discipline of Interaction Design by creating platforms for you
the community to gather, share and discuss. Outside of the platforms, we

Let's remember we need a plurality of voices, a plurality of topics, and a
big dose of decency with each other. We have 10,000 subscribers to the
Discuss list. I wager that less than 10% are active in reading, and maybe
1% are active voices. I want people to feel welcome to throw out a topic and
discuss your point of view. And if you're not comfortable doing that, go to
a local group gathering, come to the conference, or join one of our
initiatives. There is a place for your voice at the table and your
perspective and hard work could have a great impact on the community.

To clarify, if anyone is speaking in an official capacity for IxDA, we
should demarcate that in our postings. At the end of the day, we are also
individuals who are passionate about our profession, so if we are speaking
for ourselves, that should be clear as well.
