Personas. Do you use them? Are they useful or a waste of time? Our
April event will feature persona experts who will explain why, when,
and how personas can be used effectively in your interaction design
process.

What do you do when you know you need personas, but you can't seem to
convince the client or stakeholders? Go rogue! We will workshop what
to do when you have no time or resources.

Speakers:
- Jill Strawbridge (http://www.linkedin.com/in/jillstrawbridge)
- Adam Korman (http://www.linkedin.com/in/akorman)

Come out and enjoy a lively evening and enjoy a tasty spread of snacks
& drinks provided by our gracious hosts at Yahoo!

115 person max. RSVP at http://ixdala.ning.com/

More great news! IxDA Los Angeles has a new community site for
managing local events and job listings! Please RSVP by joining the
site (http://ixdala.ning.com/) and indicating that you will attend
this event.

WHEN:
Wednesday, April 29th 7-9pm

WHERE:
Yahoo!
3333 Empire Ave,
Burbank, CA, 91504

Parking is free. Enter the parking structure from Empire Avenue and

Hi IxDA LA,

Sounds like a rocking event -- wish I could attend! I'm compelled to
comment here because it's exactly the theme of a presentation that
Steve Calde and I did together in Portland last year, which we also
presented as a webinar thru Catalyze. The talk was called "Death to
Personas! Long Live Personas!" and was pretty high-level. It's
posted online here if you want to check it out:

Enjoy yourselves & please do share event notes! :) Congrats on the
new Ning site, as well -- glad you took the bull by the horns there,
Angel!

Cheers,
Liz

This sounds *exactly* like a talk Elizabeth Bacon last year.
Down to the title even.

Just wanted to chime in and let you know I am not the Angel you
are accusing of plagiarism.
I am the good Angel.

Thanks for the support, Liz! First let me say that this event is very much
inspired by the presentation that you and Steve Calde did for Portland. I'm
hoping to continue the conversation here in Los Angeles because at our last
two UX book club meetings, the topic (and usual debate!) came up and so it
seems like the time is right for our local group to have a deeper discussion
on this topic. :-)
I believe that great discussions and workshops should absolutely be repeated
in multiple local groups all over the world. That's the power of the local
groups. They let us learn from each other and delve into certain issues
where our community is conflicted.

IxDA Los Angeles is stoked to have a community site on Ning and, as always,
I'll be sharing a review of the event with the global discussion list.

Kind regards,
