DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Be part of a fast-growing company that helps campaigns and

Wired for Change is now looking for a stellar individual to join its
team as a Development Engineer.

Since 2004, Wired for Change and its nonprofit counterpart,
DemocracyInAction, have fueled over one thousand campaigns, PACs,
state parties, nonprofits, and unions with an affordable, integrated
online organizing platform, "Salsa", to engage and empower people to
make change.

Responsibilities include:
Write technical specifications and code new features for Wired for
Change's new web-based organizing toolkit
Design and build interfaces with external partner systems to exchange
data through XML and JSON
Quickly investigate and resolve technical issues reported by clients
Create mobile applications to view information from Wired for Change's
Salsa toolkit

Qualifications include:
Strong knowledge of JavaScript
Strong knowledge of SQL
Experience with web application development
Experience building external system interfaces
Ability to work quickly in a dynamic and agile work environment
Experience building mobile phone applications is a plus, but not a
requirement
The integrity and flexibility (and humor!) necessary to address the

Employment type: Full Time, ongoing
Starts: Immediately
Salary: Commensurate with experience, competitive.

team as a User Interface Developer. This is a rare opportunity to have
a sizable role in a massive, ongoing development project to build an
online organizing platform capable of transforming the way campaigns
and organizations target and mobilize their constituencies both online
and off.

Since 2004, Wired for Change and its nonprofit counterpart,

state parties, nonprofits, and unions with an affordable, integrated
online organizing platform, "Salsa", to engage and empower people to

Design and tweak application user interfaces for a new set of web-
based campaign organizing tools
Work with product and project manager to ensure that user interfaces
conform to client needs
Rapidly create of HTML mockups for design reviews for new proofs-of-
concept or feature prototypes
Create of graphics for application interface
Coordinate with UI Lead to ensure that usability efforts proceed on
schedule

Qualifications include:
Strong knowledge of CSS and HTML
Experience with Adobe Photoshop
Basic JavaScript knowledge
Experience with web site design, including page code creation
Flexibility to adjust to changes and critique over the course of a
project
