Hello. I have taken the first step of starting a local group in
Birmingham, UK. I am now looking for IxDA folk in the local area who
will be interested in helping me get this up and running. I will be
looking to represent the Midlands as this is the only local group in
the area.

I would like to hear from local leaders from other areas to hear how
you grew your local area. What challenges did you face? What has
worked well? What has not worked so well?

I would especially like to hear from the local leaders in the UK and
liaise with you.

Over the coming weeks I will be making contact with friends who work
for digital agencies in the locale to see if they, or colleagues
firstly know about the list and if they wish to join the organisation
and the local meet-ups.

Thanks in advance for all your support.

Kevin,

What a great idea! I've also discovered that the Midlands doesn't have
much of a IxD scene, and I would be more than happy to assist you in
anyway possible. Admittedly I am only a university student from
Coventry right now, but I am keen to get involved.

Thomas, great I am really pleased to hear you're interested. The
fact that you are a student makes no odds to me. We are all still
learning in this young industry. I will contact you on your email
address very soon.

Kevin,

I'll be moving back to the UK from Shanghai for my PhD in September
and would be interested in offering any help if I can...but, I'll be
moving from Stoke to Swansea almost immediately, so I'm not really
sure if I can be of any help from so far away, but feel free to email
me...I've noticed that there is a distinct lack of local groups in
the UK; 3 are listed, and this B'ham one would be the closest(!)

-Karl

Hi Karl, sounds like you are going to be doing a fair bit of
travelling around. I don't envy that. All help is appreciated so I
will send you email. Your not wrong about the distinct lack of local
groups in the UK. It will be good to get a base in the heart of
England.

what a coincidence! You guys should've been at flashCamp today in
Birmingham; we came up from Brighton to do a talk on motion design
and rapid prototyping for mobile devices.

Good luck with setting up a group in Birmingham. You're right that
groups in the UK (outside of London) are quite rare.

For anyone further North in England, there is a group called Northern
User Experience (google finds it) that - while wider that IXD
specifically - might well be of interest to anyone looking to get
involved.

@Jerome That would've been great, these things always happen during
the week though and working in a small team I can't justify
attending them all :( Do you have the slides up anywhere? What are
your roles in the Brighton IxDA Group?

@Chris Thanks man, it will be good to get this going. I am suprised
the pin isn't in the map for Cambridge, Brighton or the Northern UX.
