Alicia -

Just for your interest, when I first got involved in card sorting I came
across a paper from a research team at an automotive manufacturer. They
had used card sorting in a big way to get people to say what dashboard
components and controls ought to be grouped together. I have not found
the paper again when I was looking for it more recently, but as people
tend to get into a mental rut about card sorting (thinking that it is
useful only for navigation design), it is helpful to know that it has
broader application.
