My associate and I are planning to submit a proposal on ‘Collaboration
& Distributed Design Teams’ for the Interaction10 conference in
Savannah. We think we have enough material for a Presentation-style
of session, but we wonder if there is sufficient interest in a Group
Discussion-style session instead.

Do you work in a geographically dispersed design organization? Is
part of your team composed of external contractors? Are you
separated by more than just time zones and telephones? How do
language, culture, and technology affect our ability to collaborate?

We’ll use examples from own experience to lead a group discussion of
the problems and opportunities in building distributed design teams.
How many of you are interested in joining us for this topic in
Savannah?

Cheers-

I find this topic very interesting. Though I am not a designer, but a
part of the research team and this topic is of importance to me as we
are supposed to do reaserch for products like "knee brace". I am
based in India and the product/client are based in US.

The best I can do is dig out standard US ergonomic data, sales
numbers etc, but I am still thinking what is the best way to capture
responses for product interaction and what features are desirable.
Can you please help?

Thanks
Mana

Sounds interesting!

Are you more focussed on the "distributed" bit or the "collaboration"
bit? I don't do much of the former, but a fair bit of the latter.

Cheers,

Adrian
