The two approaches

When you need to demonstrate the significance of design (albeit in hardware
in this case), you could do much worse than contrast these two:

Dell is running a two-page ad in many tech magazines with the teaser, "Can
you find the PC?" (For Optiplex SX280 Desktop, "A revolutionary PC with no
footprint.")

Both in language and as a "one-piece" PC design, it attempts to mimic
Apple's iMac G5:

"Design by committee," "design by aliens," "design by resignation," "design
by ignorance," "design by non-designers," "design by accident." What other
characterization comes to mind?
