The thread was originally started by my reference to the use of un-annotated acronyms, which got its start waaaay back there as a result of some critical observations about unintended cultural exclusion in our conversations here - a form of professional name-dropping. (Using terminology that is understood only by "the initiated").

I gotta remember to put those little smiley thingies at the end of my comments...
