Any photo-sharing apps out there for architects-designers?

Hi All,

I am working on building this web-based application for my thesis project. Essentially it will enable architects & designers to do the following:

1.Upload work-related pictures to a central webspace .

2. Attach metadata to them such as time, project, group of people, location etc.
.
3. Annotate them using text as well as audio and doodles / drawing marks.

4. Search these pictures along various dimensions.

5. Share these with a designated group of colleagues.

I will be particularly exploring innovative ways of data visualization, as well as information display. For instance, instead of search being confined to a text-field or drop-down menu, I might explore a visual means of showing available options. Or I might explore alternate ways to show the search results other than through a gallery of thumbnails.

I'd like to know of any existing apps out there? Also, it's early days in the project, so I'd welcome any inputs you may have on making the app exciting. Any related resources are also welcome.

Thanks.

Why?

You're on the right track: explore yourself. Be bold. Take risks. Don't be
influenced by what's out there, especially this early in the process. Make
some mistakes. If you can't now, when can you?

Flickr is presenting some really interesting and fun directions in
photo organization and sharing. You'll have to create a free account to
use and view others photos.

For instance, this Tags page presents the 150 most popular tags. Font
size is related to number of tags. A simple visualization example.
