I've looked through this one. I wish I had my copy here with me right
now so I could give you a better writeup, but here goes...
This book covers a lot of ground beyond just web-application design.
It does contain specific technical and design advice for building
web-based apps, but there are a lot of good general design heuristics
in there too.
The authors' choices about where to spend page space are a little odd.
There's not a lot about form design, for instance, though what's
there is sound. But nearly half of this book's pages are devoted to
charts, plots, diagrams, and maps -- and much of that advice applies
just as well to applications as to web apps!
Come to think of it, the book's an excellent survey of
interactive-graphics design issues. That's where I find it has the
most value to me.
In any case, both the writing and the illustrations are very nicely done.
