ADMIN: Summer is arriving ... Some tips regarding e-mail list etiquette

Going on vacation means, setting those wonderful out-of-office reminders.
These are great when the recipient is sending a message to YOU. They know
who you are, and care whether or not you are in the office or not.
When these responders are not so useful is when the are sent to people who
send you a message through an e-mail list. Most likely they don't know who
you are and could really care less whether or not you are on vacation, out
on business, or just plain gone.
It can happen that a single poster could receive a barrage of out-of-office
messages every time they send a message to an e-mail list. This makes
sending messages to the list a bit annoying.
The remedy is easy. Just like you had to turn on your out-of-office
responder, you need to go to the e-mail lists you belong to and set them up
