Perficient, Inc., a leading information technology consulting firm in the
central United States, is currently seeking User Experience Designers with
strong user interface design/information, interaction architecture and
usability skills for its St. Louis, Minneapolis and Indianapolis offices.
The Minneapolis and Indianapolis offices are seeking experienced User
Experience Designers. The St. Louis office is seeking recent grads or new
User Experience Designers.

At Perficient we take a user-centered approach to design and development,
interweaving appropriate usability techniques throughout the end-to-end
solution development lifecycle. We combine the roles of Business Analyst
and User Experience Designer into one role. Successful candidates possess
both traditional business analysis skills AND usability/Human-Computer
Interaction (HCI)/information or interaction architecture skills.

User Experience Designers work typically in a team environment with client
teams, project managers, visual designers and technical teams to
develop/analyze high-level and detailed requirements for designated
projects. They facilitate usability and user-interface design/information
architecture activities and techniques, including such things as
contextual inquiry sessions for gathering/analyzing user requirements;
task analyses and card sorting sessions, low-, medium-, and high-fidelity
prototyping; iterative formative usability testing sessions interspersed
with design improvement sessions; competitor and benchmark (summative)
usability testing; heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, field
studies, and so forth. They also analyze, report, and presenting results
of these activities.

In addition to user requirements, UEDs also gather/analyze business
requirements and rules, and make intelligent recommendations/decisions
when merging business, user, and technical requirements. They translate
requirements into design. They often participate in the full
design/development lifecycle of solutions.

Experienced User Experience Designers should have from 2+ to 4+ years of
experience in a working environment, preferably in a consulting
environment, BEYOND the experience acquired in internships and part-time
employment while at school. They should have skills in:
User-interface architecture and design/information and/or interaction
architecture
Understanding of the technical feasibility of design decisions
Business analysis, such as business, technical, and user requirements
gathering/analysis/documentation and system/component test
planning/execution.
Usability engineering principles/concepts and techniques. Knowing when
and how to engage users in a development process that interweaves user
input/feedback techniques throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Usability testing planning and facilitating, analyzing data, and applying
the results to and iterating on designs
Conducting heuristic evaluations, contextual inquiry sessions, both
formative and summative usability testing, field studies
Working as a member of a project team as well as independently when
necessary to deliver technical solutions.

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s or higher degree in usability engineering, psychology, human
factors, information architecture or related HCI discipline, computer
science, or demonstrated proficiency and experience in the field of
usability/human factors/HCI and user-interface design/information
architecture.
Or, MBA, or demonstrated proficiency and experience in business analysis,
project management, etc.
Excellent team player
Excellent written and verbal communications skills and analytical skills.
Willingness to travel (mandatory). (Travel is not 100% and is not
consistent. Some engagements require it and many do not.)

Perficient offers a competitive salary and benefits package, a great work
environment, and excellent opportunities for growth and career
development.
