8th IxDG F2F Meeting held at Pune, India 4:00pm-6:00pm, Saturday 19th Nov 2005
21 Nov 2005 - 3:55am
Apologies for Cross posting :)
Like last time, this F2F meet was also held at Cafe Coffee Day, East Street,
Pune. In all, 3 people turned up, Sharad and Gaurav from SAS, pune and
The focus this time was on various types of Open Source CMSs available, and
their pro's and con's. Sharad having worked on CMS's as an end-user as well
as developer shared his experieances on couple of systems he has worked on.
Among the currently "hot" systems we discussed Magnolia and Drupal.
It was felt that popularity of an open-source CMS partly depends on the UI
the developers manage to come up with. Its also wonderful to see that such
systems do IxD in the most democratic way, wherein Users and developers
alike participate in extinsive discussions on Forums and Mailing-lists to
come up with UI changes in subsequent releases.
We also felt that us as UI professionals should help them out in our free
time. More on this plan later.
