"The Curse of Information Design" - ??

The website A List Apart reposted an article by Scott Cohen about the
apparent curse of information design (see

). It really ruffled my usability feathers- what do you think?

I'm finding that developers (in particular) seem to think they know all
about usability/IA/UX because they are the ones 'building' the
sites/apps. Am I crazy or does anyone else find this? I feel it totally
belittles someone with a professional degree and years of experience in
the field. I think it's awfully conceited as well.
