Would anybody be interested in starting a reading group in the bay area on Social Networking theory? I've been reading a lot about it lately and would like to get some discussions going to better understand it....Lately I've reading Six Degrees by Duncan J. Watts.
I was thinking about starting something in either Berkeley or SF.

Wendy,
I would love to join, but unfortunately I'm Los Angeles based. I'm
currently researching social networks for a new work project. Besides
Six Degrees, do you have any book or article recommendations?
Thanks much,

Amy,
You should have a read of Steven Johnson - Emergence and Albert-Lazlo
Barabasi - Linked, they're both great books on the subject.
I'm currently reading James Surowiecki - The Wisdom of Crowds but it has yet
to give me the wow factor.
Hope that helps

Wendy,
One of my favorite topics. :) There is a conference about Networks coming
up soon that might interest you:
Mesh Forum (www.meshforum.org/). It's in SF May 7-9.
While I no longer live in the Bay area (oh, how I miss it), I will be in
town for the conference and would love to get together for a discussion if
you and/or anyone else is interested? Perhaps this might be a good way to
find some others for the group?
