In our April meeting, we presented a case study about bringing usability
into a large organization. Our May presentation will go one step further and
explore ways to promote usability to a range of stakeholders with disparate
agendas, different perspectives and unique personalities. Attendees will
learn how to identify barriers (in themselves and within the company) that
can hinder their efforts to promote usability and learn techniques and
strategies to overcome those barriers.
This session will be interactive, so bring specific situations and/or
questions for discussion.
Ilise Benun is the founder of Marketing Mentor and the author of several
books, including "Designing Websites:// for Every Audience," "Self Promotion
Online," and the forthcoming "Stop Pushing Me Around: A Workplace Guide for
the Timid, Shy and Less Assertive." She is a national speaker for
organizations such as the UPA, AIGA and the American Marketing Association.
She presented her ideas on "Personal Usability" at World Usability Day,

UI Architect or senior level UI Designers at CA
CA is currently looking for a seasoned UI Architect or senior level UI
Designer to apply proven UCD methods and solutions to plan, lead and deliver
large-scale projects. This will include product design, corporate UI
standards, usability engineering, and institutionalizing UCD.
The position could be in various locations in the NJ, NY area.
This leadership position will report to the VP of UCD, manage team members,
and be responsible for providing direction to the growth and maturity of the
UCD team. The ideal candidate is someone who can provide thought leadership

should include the ability to research, develop, and communicate a
long-term, innovative user experience directions based on a thorough

Advanced HCI Research Staff Member at CA
CA is looking for a seasoned professional with a solid background in
empirical research to join newly formed CA Labs as an Advanced HCI Research
Staff Member. This is a new role at CA, and the ideal candidate will be able
to map a robust HCI research agenda with clearly defined business benefits.

Qualified candidates will seek and identify research topics which can impact

experience doing B2B and B2C usability research across an array of
