If you had just one conference to attend, which of the two would you choose: UX Week San Francisco or UX London? And why?
This will be my first conference, and both look extremely appealing. I don't think I can lose either way, but I can only afford to go to one. I live in California myself and the travel to San Francisco would be minimal, although the experience of a trip to London would be incredible.
What are your thoughts? Any experience in either conferences of the past?

Re posting as it didn't seem to come through on email. Must be a glitch with new site.
There are some other good conferences going in Europe in May, and not just UX London.

There is :-
UxLisbon has a lot of the usability stars giving talks including Jared Spool, Peter Merholz, and Steve Krug. You will find Lisbon far cheaper than London, and it has far better weather and food. The flight from America is shorter (it is sometimes called the poor man's concord.)
UPA conference is more professional, and Munich has the advantage that the Extreme Ironing Championships will be held at the same time.
UXcamp Europe will be the first pan Europe Bar Camp, and is in the great city of Berlin, and it is FREE!
SMALL DISCLOSURE: I am giving a workshop on Remote Usability at UxLisbon details here, I am on a panel at the UPA event on Can remote methodologies replace the lab, the war room, and fieldwork? and I am one of the co organisers of UXcamp Europe. I am also slightly biased towards Lisbon as my father wrote the bestselling history on Portugal, The First Global Village
All the best

Can't help you up in the corner of the globe but if you fell like a trip down under then Australia is holding its second UXAustralia Conference at the end of August in Melbourne...

How about conferences in the fall, preferrably in Germany? I would like to
network with UX designers and would like to visit in the fall if possible.
I'm heading to UX Week myself in San Francisco ~ It will be my first as well and looking forward to it! I've heard a few of the speakers present at IA Summits a few years back and they were great.
Based on user testing sessions I've done both in London and in North America, North American users are a bit different from European users. I'm assuming that the material covered in UX London will be targeted more towards reaching out to Europoean users. Therefore, depending on which users you want to reach, I would make my decision accordingly.
Anyway, my vote would be SF :)
