Hello,

I am currently working on a proof of concept and I would like to be able
to identify users without the need for the user to generate account and
such. The proof of concept consists of a console installation where the
user inputs POIs and then the user can refer a personalized leaflet/guide
based on his earlier entered data on his mobile device. Now I would like to
identify the user in some manner when he uses his mobile device (currently
iPhone atm).

Are there any best practices if you want to do such things? I am currently
thinking about generating some unique number or user-chosen word. The flow
Ihad in mind was like:

- Calculate personalized news based user-entered POIs
- Display the unique code and instructions (animations) to download the
iPhone app
- Keep displaying until the code has been used
- or timeout back to the start state of the console after n
seconds/minutes.

What would you think of such solution? Any good for the phone/mobile
device confident persons?

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to hear from you,

Just a quick thought.  Since it's a mobile phone app, you could send them a code via SMS that could be used to identify them.  That way they do not have to keep a login id handy and you can timebomb the SMS code so that increases the safety level.  That code could be entered into the iPhone app to load their POI's for the personalized guide.

  Hope this helps,   Sean
