Hi Laax
Personally speaking on look-n-feel, I like the previous one better for it cultural presence which closely links to the resort video on website. The new one looks very corporate in nature, also looks little dull & too spread out to me. On the other hand, Information layout is definitely better in the new one and is easier to find.

Hi guys,

I am about to release a new home page for one of my company clients. I will like to share it with you. In case that you have some feedback on it, please comment.

The Original Home page is this one

And we are going to change it for this new one

Of course we are going to change the whole site, but this prototype is for the client to decide wether they like it or not.

If you compare both pages you'll see that I suggested go for a white instead of orange in the background since I believe, the prior background was very distracting to visitors with large screen resolutions, among other things, such as change in the menu, and other little changes!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Laax,

I like the old one better too...
The old one gave a feel of the hotel being in Mexico, whereas the new one could be anywhere. Possibly because of the rotating photos, that show the resort itselft, while the new one concentrates on the guests, who look like they could be advertising hot chocolate or anything else. Also, the old one emphasized the swirling logo: it appears in the background, and even in the logo inside the browser tab. That gives it a kind of identity. Also, the tagline "Nature. Culture. Experience." appears in good place in the old one, while in the new one it looks like a text title among others. In the old one, it is just under the rotating photo, and gives weight to the pictures.

Maybe I'm not the typical user, but I would have emphasized the identity of the site, rather than diluting it. It is called the Riviera Maya, after all. Being a fan of Mayan glyphs, I would have peppered the site with them. But maybe the brief was to do the opposite of that, to make it more mainstream.

Hi Francis,

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I just went to mu boss and the people related in the decision process of the design, and we are going to change several stuff from the current project. We are going to bring something back from the current website, but in a way that emphasizes the personality of the resort as Sarah Suggested earlier. I think we have found a small formula that can lead us to the point where it is enough. I can definitely tell you that the feedback provided in this discussion has been taking into consideration seriously, and we will add your comments to our current efforts.
