What: Pannel Discussion on Design for the Majority
The Northwest Chapter of IDSA and the IDSA Design for the Majority section present the 2010 Design Debate: “Can Design Save the World?” on Thursday, June 17th at 7:00 pm at the Seattle Art Museum Olympic Sculpture Park Pavilion. This moderated panel discussion with include an interdisciplinary panel of design professionals from the fields of industrial design, architecture, graphic design and interaction design. The panel will discuss and debate issues related to designing sustainable products, systems and businesses for the 5.3 billion people living in less developed regions of the world.

Debate Panel Members:
Sergio Palleroni, PSU
Sergio Palleroni is an architect, professor, and fellow at Portland State University, in Portland, Oregon. He is a pioneer in the area of sustainable design and Design for the Majority.
Jason Morris, WWU
Jason Morris is a professor of industrial design at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Jason’s most recent work in the field of Design for the Majority was a low cost utility cargo bicycle for Ugandans.
Kara Pecknold, Olivelife Creative
Kara Pecknold is a graphic designer and instructor at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is currently conducting research in Rwanda for her design consultancy Olivelife Creative.
Michael Cetaruk, frog design
Michael Cetaruk is Associate Creative Director of the Austin, TX office of frog design inc., where he is currently researching and designing user experiences for the mobile phone sharing application MXShare from Movirtu.
Kevin Flick, PATH
Kevin Flick is a program officer with the Safe Water Project at PATH and spent four years on the hardware team at the Microsoft Corporation, leading user research initiatives.
