We ran a book club twice. The main challenge has been getting agreement on what book to review.
If you'd like to organise one, I advice pick a book, and set a date 2-3 months in the future as that's the only way it has worked thus far. Any venue is usually cool - we've used peoples offices and pubs and just chatted in general about what we thought of it, though maybe changing this format will help, it might be nice to get people to each do a 3 minute talk on what they took from the book.
Anyways, let us know, you shouldn't be stuck for participants.
Funny that you mentioned this. I was thinking about this today. I just finished "This Means This, This Means That: A User's Guide to Semiotics " and would recommend it as an introduction, its an easy read and will create a lot of intressting way to take design projects.
Book clubs I was invovled in previously worked as follows. Each
member of the club picks a book which they have enjoyed or would like to
read. Each month the group reads one of these books. The person who
picked the book then does a small presentation on it and helps get the
discussion started.Obviously this requires that we have a group of
people how are comunicating regularly.
Maybe the best way to proceed is take the approach Des suggested
and at that first meet up talk in the group about the way we might keep
it going.
Anyone have suggestions for a venue? My knowledge of Dublin pubs is not all that extensive.

I'm open to new books.
