I am delighted to announce that Chris Rider has stepped up to be the new coordinator for our local face-to-face IxDA group! Chris has been an IxDA Los Angeles volunteer for the past year and now he is ready to take the reins to lead and coordinate our local group.
When I started IxDA Los Angeles in 2008, I had no idea that our community would blossom into one of the largest, strongest local groups in north america within just two years. Our community has welcomed great speakers, participated in lively workshops, and even paired up mentors and protégés via mentor speed dating! We've covered a wide range of topics; from design methodology to augmented reality, and we have educated and inspired each other along the way.
Chris Rider is taking over as your cruise director and I'm heading to Boulder, Co for the next 4 months as part of my new job with Crispin Porter + Bogusky. Chris is working with our super helpful local planning crew to organize a fantastic October event that will be part of Design Week LA and you'll be seeing an ongoing program of IxDA Los Angeles events that are as rich and diverse as the LA interaction design community itself. As an all-volunteer organization, it's important for all IxDA members to take on leadership roles and pitch in to move our profession forward. I know that Chris will do an amazing job coordinating our team of hard-working local volunteers. Please join me in welcoming him to this new role!
