I think this is a piece that is frequently forgotten, ignored, or discounted. Some people have no problem working in a big, open, noisy shared space. But some people (yes, I'm one of them) need a place that's quiet and devoid of visual distractions to be able to do the more mentally focused work. So yes, have a great big team collaboration space where you can sit comfortably, interact with each other, draw sketches, etc. But also give people a place to retreat when they need focused concentration time. It's basically allowing for people with different personality types to be successful.
