So what's your revenue projection? What percentage of job postings do you expect will be removed and what percentage will pay the fee?

"we looked at these issues really hard" is a lot of words for "trust us" and while I sympathize with the Board's desire to create a revenue source I don't think it's unreasonable to share the projections that support this decision.

What got sent out was a "here is what we're going to do." There was no "here's what we're planning to do" nor has there been any "and here's why it's the best plan."

That's not surprising. What is surprising is that the company HR departments, non-profit institutions such as universities, and individuals are being treated the same way as professional recruiters. Did the board consider a fee exemption or reduction in cost for those who are not profiting from the job ads?

I confess I don't use these sites, so I haven't seen a duplication of positions listed. Are you finding the recruiters already have their jobs posted on paid sites? Or is this a general statement of the form "other sites collect fees from recruiters"?

Sorry, which users' expectations? Which users? Does the Board consider itself to be users of the list or owners of the list?

That's a lot more words for "trust us." Which, I must be forgiven for saying, I do not. This is the sort of decision that might be put to the membership, which I think are both the owners of the list and the users whose expectations you claim to know. Regardless, it's the sort of dramatic change that ought to be backed up by data, of which there has been none. And as a decision that has been considered "for years" it seems like it would be a good idea to have more than a brief last-minute notice.

I'm fully willing to be convinced by data. I'm not willing to see a resource I value put to the whim of "trust us we know best."

Along the way, if you wish, you might discuss what other models of revenue generation the Board considered and rejected. Again, presumably you have projections and data to show that other sources would bring in less revenue or would incur more cost of some kind?
