Interaction Designer (Creative Finishing Software)

An Interaction Designer's role is about expressing
the voice of the end-user. You will be responsible for applying user-centered
design techniques at all stages of the development process to ensure that our
products meet the needs of our users.
You will:
- Conduct contextual inquiry sessions, task
analyses, surveys, and focus groups.
- Conceptualize, design, and prototype software
user interfaces.
- Create appropriate design artifacts (scenarios,
storyboards, mock-ups, etc.) that permit evaluation of the above prior to
software implementation.
- Plan and conduct usability studies of prototype
and development code.
- Analyze the results and identify usability
defects based on the analysis.
- Work with technical staff to ensure that designs
can be implemented and to ensure integrity during implementation.
- The right candidate must possess a clear passion
for discovering and solving customer problems, a commitment to excellence, and
an ability to see beyond the immediate challenges, several years into the
future.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of human factors engineering,
experimental design and behavioral sciences.
- Experience in user-centered design of software
applications. (Including user and task analysis, contextual inquiry, heuristic
evaluation, and low-fidelity prototyping.)
- Experience in planning, conducting and reporting
usability tests and site visits.
- Ability to generate clear product ideas and
designs from research findings.
- Ability to successfully interact with end-users
and development team members.
- Ability to work in a distributed team.
- Ability to make group presentations.
- Understanding of the software development life
cycle (process of specification, design, and implementation) and engineering
concerns that arise in designing and building interfaces.
- Excellent French and English communication
skills - written and verbal.
- At least a Bachelor's degree in design, HCI or a
similar field, or 3 years of practical experience.
Additional Desired Skills (an asset for the role):
- Good knowledge of designing for the Mac OS.
- Familiarity with post-production software (e.g.,
Final Cut Studio, Adobe Premiere Pro).
- Familiarity with graphic design applications
(e.g., Adobe CS).
- Knowledge of 3D graphics software (e.g., Maya,
3ds Max)
