New Anti-Spam measures for IxDA.org
Thanks to efforts of Matt Nish-Lapidus and the folks at GVS, we now have some great anti-spam measures in place.
We were getting a lot of spam, where bots spoofed the system as new members and then dumped crap into the discussion list. We're now moderating the first few messages that new users post, making sure they're actual, bona fide carbon life forms. We give new users a message: "To help reduce spam, we moderate all messages from new users. Once you’ve made your first several discussion posts (we need to establish that you’re real), your posts won’t require moderation.”
So far, it's working great! Thanks to all who worked on this, tested it, and gave feedback.
This is yet another item that the board has focused on, to improve the ability for the interaction design community to communicate.
