Hello Seattle IXDA'ers,

My group at Amazon is hiring a UI Designer. If you or anyone you know is interested in the position, please email me: chrische@amazon.com. Here's the job description:

Job Description

Amazon.com is seeking a UI Designer to join its External Payment Services group.  We are a new business unit within Amazon responsible for innovating on top of Amazon’s trusted payment platform and building web and mobile consumer products for Amazon’s over 200 million customers worldwide.

We’re in need of a senior designer that has experience working with large scale projects (with dedicated business owners), while creating innovative user-centered design experiences.

We need a highly motivated, self-directed, and enthusiastic person that truly has a passion for user-centered design. You must enjoy working on multiple projects, and thrive on the challenges associated with working with technical owners and business owners, while being a persuasive advocate for the end-user.

You will be responsible for the architecture, interaction flow, aesthetics, design, and presentation of projects that directly affect our customers. In the course of your work you will be interacting with and presenting to a wide variety of disciplines, ranging from Usability to Senior Management. You should feel comfortable working with and communicating with all of them.

Work may get a bit crazy at times, but will be equally exciting and fun.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate solid user-interface design and graphic design skills, and have a good understanding of the relationship between content, user interface, and technology. You must be able to quickly create customer experience flows, generate wire-frames, and iterate on design prototypes with the ability to make positive decisions affecting the user-experience.  Your designs will be viewed by millions of customers and have a sizable impact on the creative direction of External Payments as we move forward.

Basic Qualifications

-Experience with JavaScript, CSS and XML is preferred

-A professional portfolio of work that demonstrates process, design, and shows a commanding knowledge of user-centered design projects is expected.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups, to all levels of the organization

-Articulate design concepts and prototypes, with the ability to define your “vision” for the project in a variety of ways…written, visually and verbally

-A mastery of web standards, design principles, and scalable dynamic GUIs

-Expert skill level in the standard tools of the trade; Photoshop, DreamWeaver, HTML, etc.
