I am interested in working with the healthcare industry once I receive my MS in HCI.
What resourses are available to target my search to find UX positions in this area?
Look for major medical centers and research facilities - Mayo, Cleveland, Dana Farber. Also the insurance companies have interaction designers and UX analysts. UnitedHealthcare often hires UX people. There are consultancies that focus on user experience in healthcare but most are looking for experienced practitioners, so consider getting your feet wet with a hospital or insurance company.
Healthcare, like other companies, does post positions on Monster, Dice, Indeed. Also take the time to network with people who work in UX healthcare roles by seeking them out on LinkedIn or googling (they may have an online portfolio with contact info).
In the bay area you might want to also check out kaiser permanente, I have seen a few UX positions from them in the past.
Don't forget to check out some of the healthcare software vendors, I have frequently seen them with UX positions though they may be listed under a different title (e.g. the Development Analyst position for MEDITECH is a design role). I happen to work for a vendor in a design role and have found it to be very rewarding.
