what if we started a movement that created personas representing the earth and workers and recommended incorporating these personas into all our designs especially when they are for industrial or social organizations? Maybe we could launch the concept on Earth Day...and as a best practice, us, as practitioners, could introduce the concept and start making a difference...just a thought that occurred to me as I was biking to work this morning...

Nice thought.

BIt Orwellian.

Wouldn't this just create massive demographic stereotypes for exploitation by marketeers and corrupt governments to manipulate our lives? Or are we doing that already?

Perhaps we should just ask them for their research ;)

A persona is a behavior-based archetype segmenting the audience for a particular type of product or service; typically within a given context of use.

The variables used to determine that segmentation represent a subset of all potential variables; those most influential over an individuals behavior in that context with respect to the product or service being designed.

To create the set of personas you envisage would either result in gross generalizations leading to an inability for the designer to make informed decisions; or would be so numerous as to defeat the purpose.
