Hi everyone,

I'm new to the city, doing interaction design work with a local publisher. I just completed my MS in Interaction Design at Indiana University, and I'm glad to be diving in. I'm totally open to suggestions for fun stuff to do in the city and Overland Park area.

I'm interested in meeting everyone! This seems like a good time to get the ball rolling with introductions. Maybe if we can get some interest together, we can meet over a brew and nerd out.

Anyone out there?

I am!  But you already know that. :)

Hey Matt -

Welcome to KC! I'm a UX at the local agency VML and moved to KC just over four years ago. Where is your day job? I'm in the Crossroads district (downtown-ish), so if you're around here it would be fun to get lunch.

As you can see, the IxDA group in KC has been idle for a while; I have the beginnings of a calendar of events, but was going to wait until after the summer to get things rolling. That said, I'm always up for beers with cool, smart people.

This is a great - and getting better - design town, and AIGA and the LinkedIn group KC UX are great places to plug in as well.

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for setting up the group! I'm currently living in Overland Park, but I love excuses to get out of the 'burbs. We should definitely get some people together for a happy hour or something. I've been looking forward to the move to KC. I love the town, and the tighter UX community that comes with it. The city reminds me quite a bit of Columbus OH, another awesome town with a great design community. I'll definitely check out the other groups you posted.

As for your question, I'm working at Walsworth Publishing on the south side. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Matt, your timing is pretty good, tomorrow night is KC's first UX Show and Tell, put together by Randall Blair, @randallbinkc Here are the details!/francisrupert/status/93041632282279938

"Local publisher", shall I guess... Walsworth?

As for me, I've been doing the UX thing in KC exclusively, at Sprint for 9 years, and then as indie consultant for 2 years, and now for @eightshapes in DC while living here. I share Tyler's sentiment, KC is indeed a great design town. Welcome.

Tyler, in addition to the LinkedIn group, the UX Show and Tell group looks to be good starting list of KC UXers for us to get the IXDA KC chapter going. I suspect Randall would be interested in helping out, as would I.

Hey France,

You're dead on about Walsworth. Jesse Kates brought me in just this week, I assume you guys know each other.

Thanks for the heads up about the UX show and tell. I can't make it tonight, but I'll definitely keep my eyes open for the next one. Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to meeting everyone soon, and helping getting this thing on a roll.

Hi Matt,

Welcome to KC, I moved here last summer and love it!

Back in March we got a good crowd together for the Global Service Jam (, it was a lot of fun and a great way to meet different members of the local design community.

In October there will be a Global Sustainability Jam, it will follow the same 48-hour start to finish format, if you can spare the weekend it's definitely worth checking out.

Look forward to meeting you sometime-

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this group. I work at Grundfos in Olathe as a user-focused design consultant amongst a group of engineers. I'm currently in Denmark visiting the parent company, but I'd love to join a meetup sometime after I return.

Nice to see there's a growing community.

Hi Designers,

I am a product designer at Marche Design in Lawrence.  I enjoy beers and ultra nerdy conversations.

This week isn't a good one for me to meet up, but I hope to attend the next meet up or event.
