I work with a non-profit hospital in rural India, JSS (www.jssbilaspur.org), that is building an open-source, volunteer-driven, health information system and is in need of assistance with UI/UX design.
JSS runs a multi-nodal hospital, three remote sub-centers and an extensive public health outreach program with 104 community health workers, serving the most marginalized members of Indian society. Its doctors believe in providing high-quality healthcare for the poorest of the poor, and have set forth the ambitious goal developing a completely open source, digital health information system, operating on cloud-based servers and tablet computers. I work directly with the physicians and staff at the hospital, helping to manage the project, and coordinate the efforts of our many volunteer contributors.
The project already has a very talented pool of programmers in the US and India, many of whom are PhD an Masters-level computer science students from top universities. What we lack, however, is the UI/UX bandwidth to match our developers’ availability.
If any UI/UX designers here have the bandwidth to volunteer a few hours a week to this collaborative effort, it would be a huge help.
p.s. if not, I completely understand. But perhaps you can circulate this to anyone who might be interested..?
