Hi,

I am going to be teaching a class in Interaction Design for the first time, it’s an intro course to undergrad students. I just need to start building some lesson plans and project ideas and was wondering if anyone can give me some inspirations and ideas.

Thanks!

Hey.

I teach a similar course and what I do is introduce them to design research and process via IDEO's HCD Toolkit (found on IDEO.org) and I try to find real-world problems for them to work on. This semester, we're basing projects around the theme of design for disability. They're going to do research in general, including researching existing and emerging technologies, then, based on their research, propose and build proofs-of-concept for product ideas that they've generated themselves.

If I were going to teach an Interaction Design course to undergrads, I'd definitely use Don Norman's Design of Everyday Things and/or Susan Weinschenk's 100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People as part of the course, unless you know those would be covered elsewhere in the curriculum.
