Good Classes for Wannabe IXD

Hi All, I was too poor to get into a school that offered an IXD program so I'm trying to sculpt one from the night school I'm going to. 

Do you have any suggestions of good classes to take? Any off the top of your head would be helpful, here is the link for my CSCI class options as well.

Is there a particular direction you are interested in taking with IxD? I ask because there are a lot of very programming related courses on there that are far more technical in nature than I know I deal with in my day to day work. My background before joining the UX team I'm on now is theatre, writing and non-profit so I can't speak to what is actually offered in an IxD course, but based on their descriptions these three all looked like they could be helpful. 

  • CSCI E-9 Creative Explorations in Screen-Based and Physical Computing
  • CSCI E-12 Fundementals of Website Development
  • CSCI E-64 Visualization 

 

These classes are from different courses of study but in some way addess skills that could be helpful to you, so you may want to check them out as well. 

 

  • EXPO E-48 Multimedia Communication: Digital Storytelling
  • JOUR E-143 Digital Journalism
  • STAR E-117 Contemporary Drawing Practice
  • MGMT E-3070 Communicating Globally
  • MGMT E-4160 Creating and Leading Team Dynamics 

Also, I would encourage you to read and practice what you're learning. There are lots of book lists with recommendations and there are groups like GiveCamp where you can get some hands-on experience to build your skills.
