Hi All,

I am trying to manage design resources/assets and would very much like to use Basecamp.  However, due to security reasons, it's not an option for my group.  Does anyone know if there is open source software like Basecamp that can do the same or similar things for a team of 15 or so? I need the project based approach, as well, some type of PM functionality.

Thanks in advance!
David

We began last month using qdPM, a free, open-source project management suite that seems to have been developed by and for the web development/design industry. Our major requirements were:

  • Self-Hosted, not SaaS.
  • Open Source and PHP-based (we are a web development company that works in PHP, so we wanted to be able to modify the system as needed without needing skills we aren't constantly using.)
  • Gantt charting
  • a way to integrate our customer support. In this case, the system allows you to have a support-ticket system, which clients can fill out by themselves (some like independently doing that) or we transcribe emails or phone calls into a support ticket as part of our service platform.

We've been happy so far and haven't had to do a lot of tweaks, though at seven weeks in we're still getting used to things. There's a commercial-license extended version that has some extra features like a Wiki and LDAP authentication, but we haven't had to graduate to it just yet. The site is http://www.qdpm.net.

I'm just a happy user of the software, not a part of its team.
