Hi there,

I am looking for recommendations for medium - large agencies that are IA ninjas. Currently in infancy, I have been tasked to research some medium to large agencies who are known for their IA skills.

The ultimate goal is to put together a budget to create the following deliverables:

1.  a sitemap of the current site (which is an ecommerce/lead-gen site) that is about 15,000 pages

2, a new sitemap of the future of our site

3. Wireframes and annotations for templated content

Besides HUGE, Frog Design and Razorfish, who else it out there?

Preferably, it would be great if there was an office in the SoCal area.

Thanks,
Cari

Avoid "Digital Ad Agencies" first and foremost. Bloated pricing structures my #1 kvetch, but none really get IA- even if they have screamingly tallented practicioners on staff. Frog is more of a product consultancy.

HOT Studio is one of my favs, as is Adaptive Path. Also, Tangible UX are pretty awesome. Mule are also pretty great. I don't believe any of the aforementioned are in SoCal, but they're imho the best. Seriously- avoid the rockstar Ad agencies or cult-of-personality "interactive" agencies. So few are truly customer-driven, and most bill you more for Engagement Manager and PM time that doesn't really do much to contribute to the end product.

Mule, AP, and HOT all have PMs and EMs, but at least those agencies aren't grounded in the ethos of ego that bloats most SOWs with way more hours than either discipline should ever justify. Good, honest, lean and very talented folks, who love their clients. Not macho rockstars out to win awards or toss cookie-cutter branding-baloney at your project.
