JOB DESCRIPTION
M*Modal is looking for talented, highly motivated and technically excellent User Experience Designer to join our UX group as part of M*Modal Research & Development team. We are seeking a User Experience Designer with a track record of creating complex, high-quality enterprise software in a rapidly changing environment. In this role, you must understand user workflows and design appealing user interfaces that combine graphical and natural language input modalities. The successful candidate will: 
o Have a great track record in creating highly functional, user-focused, and desirable designs
o Exhibit deep understanding and passion for user-centered design principles
o Be able to design and deliver compelling concepts as well as adapt designs to real-world constraints and technical challenges. 
o Be innovative, enthusiastic, flexible and creative
o Partner effectively with other designers, developers, product managers and business stakeholders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
o Conduct user research, diagnose problems and synthesize data
o Create innovative and appealing designs in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, through sketches, storyboards, user task flows, wireframes, prototypes and the production of final assets for specific features and projects.
o Interact with end users to validate and evaluate design ideas and implemented solutions 
o Collaborate with other designers, product managers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to prioritize UX activities throughout the software development life-cycle and deliver high quality experiences in time. 
o Create and maintain interface style guidelines applicable across multiple products
o Drive design thinking and champion the UX vision across the organization


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
o Extremely detail oriented creative individual with a strong sense of style
o Familiarity with process, techniques and methods of UCD
o Strong rapid prototyping / wire-framing skills
o Experience in designing for web, desktop and mobile platforms
o Ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects and switch priorities as needed
o Being self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal instruction and supervision
o Willingness to work to meet goal regardless of hours
o Strong communication and presentation skills necessary to effectively present, explain, negotiate, and monitor design solutions 
o B.S./M.S. degree in Design related field including human-computer interaction, interaction design, graphic design or minimum 3 years of applied experience in UX design
o A design portfolio demonstrating breadth and proven experience in information architecture, interaction design, visual design work, and a thorough understanding of good design process is required.

BENEFICIAL
o Experience with speech as an input modality
o Experience with GIMP/Photoshop/Illustrator
o Working knowledge of web technologies (CSS, JavaScript)
o Experience in a health care related field

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires business or business-casual attire, when customers/visitors are onsite. You may have to travel on occasion to meet with customers. This position requires that you are at the M*Modal premises during regular working hours.
