Hello all i'm new to the community and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a good space I could converse with and pick information architects brains? I'm looking for some kind of forum or conference in the New England area.
Here are a few hints - regarding IA and the topic UX, because it's more or less impossible to talk about IA without to wander off the topic and talking about UX.
http://iainstitute.org/ - The Information Architecture Institute is a professional
organization, operated by a dedicated, multi-national group of people
who are dedicated to promoting the concept, craft and community of
information architecture. I am a member since ten years and also a tutor there I am sure you will find also a tutor in New England.
http://boxesandarrows.com/ - Boxes and Arrows is devoted to the practice, innovation, and discussion of design; including graphic design, interaction design, information architecture and the design of business since 2001.
and a few more:

Well and my own blog: http://ux4dotcom.blogspot.com/
I hope I could help you - Good luck and have a great year 2013 !
