Where can I find information on the history of UCD?

Hi, I'm working on my undergrad thesis and one of the subjects I'm researching is the history of UCD and its origins.
Can you recommend any papers, books or articles about this topic? Where did UCS start (which countries)? Why did it start (to fulfill which needs)?

Hi Violeta

Are you concentrating on computer-related UCD or going back earlier in history where mechanical devices are involved, or earlier? e.g. Armourers used to work closely with their 'users' when creating suits of armour, as did tailors. JWT pioneered the use of research in assessing and focussing campaign efficacy in the late C19th.
