Hi Folks,

It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of the IxDA's latest initiative – The Events Office! [Fanfare please!]

Over the past few months we've recruited a team of current and former IxDA leadership and Interaction conference committee alumni - all with extensive event experience and individual expertise.

This group has agreed to be responsible for assembling, synthesizing and disseminating knowledge to facilitate year-over-year coordination and continuity of IxDA global events. This includes the Interaction Awards, local Redux events, and the annual Interaction Conference with its related components: the Student Design Competition, Education Summit and organizational planning meetings for the Board of Directors, Regional Coordinators and Local Leaders.

The current leadership of our initiatives and programs will remain unchanged, and the Events Office will work alongside these events committees to provide mentoring, support, and the tools needed to run these events successfully.

What we’re working on:

Here are just a few of the things we’re doing now to help make future IxDA global events even better:

  • Collating all previous conference plans, attendee surveys and artefacts
  • Creating a reusable toolkit of templates and roadmaps
  • Gathering requirements for a multi-purpose technical platform

You can meet the team, keep up to date with what we're working on, and give us your feedback on IxDA global events at

Please spread the word!

All the best,
Séamus T. Byrne
IxDA Director of Events

This is an EXCELLENT idea! My experience across three Interactions tells me that this resource will be very valuable. And it looks like we've got the right people involved! :) Last year when I organized a large internal conference, we had an eye on 'next time' and put together the beginnings of what we're now calling a playbook. Helpful contacts, typical roles, example budget items, workback schedule structures, sample planning outlines, suggested content types, intranet site templates, visual identity hints, etc. So far it's been used by 7 other internal events, each reporting how helpful it is. So, again, great job and I'm sure it will enormously beneficial to IxD14 and beyond, as well as local IxDA events.
