This year, the CIID Summer School will be bigger and more comprehensive than ever. We will provide the opportunity to explore interaction design through a choice of one or two week workshops. The workshops will run throughout the whole of July.
At CIID, we follow a ‘learning by doing’ philosophy so participants will be encouraged to explore the relevant topic as as a context – and then experiment, make, play and build prototypes in the studio/workshops. Participants will become engaged with the topic of interaction design, learning practical skills in the process.
World-class faculty will lead the individual classes and we hope that we can infuse both the knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage participants to study interaction design at a higher level or to use their new-found skills in their current practice. There will be a maximum number of 25 places available for each course.
Previous knowledge of interaction design is not required as we are looking for a group of people who come from a wide range of backgrounds. Prior knowledge of Arduino and/or Processing would be advantageous for some of the project work – however, an appetite for learning and willingness to operate in a team is essential! A few of the modules have a tangible element to them and there will be plenty of opportunities to experiment with storyteling, digital fabrication and physical prototyping.
CIID is situated close to the harbour, right in the centre of Copenhagen. It’s the perfect location to explore the city, the beautiful parks and beaches, together with your fellow summer school participants who will come from all over the world. We will organise a number of social gatherings including a Sunday afternoon ‘meet & greet’ on the Sunday before the course starts – to get to know the other participants before the official class kick-off on the Monday morning.
Initial Application Deadline: April 18th. After that, the application process will remain open as long as there are spaces available.
Cost: 5000dkk per week (some classes are one week, some are two weeks).
