CHI 08

This is pretty far off, but anyone planning on attending CHI 08 in
Florence, Italy?

Jim Ungar (IxDA member) and I will be giving a few different talks
(one in a workshop, and one case study presentation) about using
studio approach to design to facilitate UCD in Agile software
development environments.

If anyone is planning on going, let me know and let's think about
getting together one evening. Registration will open next week, I
believe. I'm looking forward to this conference, to say the least.

Connecting 2007

This year is the biannual ICSID/IDSA international congress for
Industrial Design to be chaired by Bill Moggridge in SF. They will be
accepting presentaitons of all kinds including around digital products.
This is the first time in 22 years that the congress is in the US and
the IDSA is trying to make this a very big event.

Check out the site at:

I encourage lots of IxDers to submit to the congress as there is an
entire track for virtual/visceral programming.

Best conference?

It's budget time again!! I get to pick one conference. In your expert
opinion, which conference will be the best to attend next year? I am an
interaction designer/ user interface designer. I have attended the Nielsen
Usability conference for the past 2 years, but I'm wondering if CHI 2007
would be a better fit.

IDEA Conference, October 23-24, Seattle, WA

Design problems are increasingly becoming information problems.

Throughout their days, people are engaging with complex information
to manage their lives.

And designers now realize that information isn't simply this stuff
you find -- the appropriate presentation of information helps people
make sense of the world around them.

IDEA (Information: Design, Experience, Access) is a conference
devoted to the design of complex information spaces, whether
physical, virtual, or procedural.

It will take place Oc

Doors of Perception conference this year?

Does anyone know if there will be a Doors conference in 2006?

I'm trying to decide on this vs. CHI. It does look like the CHI conference
has made some nice changes (free courses, longer, organization by practioner
discipline, etc.)

It seems like a choice between Inspiration and Facts. Personally, I find
Inspiration in shorter supply these rarely hears complaints about
Inspiration Overload.
