I've been working as an experience/interaction designer in London for the past five years, but am considering the feasibility of a move to the west coast of the US with my young family.
Does anyone have any recent experience of relocating from the UK to the US for a UX job? How easy is it to find UX jobs in the States that offer sponsorship/relocation support? Is it a total pipe dream?
Hi. Few moths ago I have moved to London. Actually it is half a year already. All this time I'm sending my CV and portfolio to the recruiters and looking for some vacancies on londojobs and design week, but... I've had only one interview for all of this time. I have 10 yrs experience in UI/web design, but I understand that here in UK school of design is higher than in Latvia where I'm from. But still...
Freshly back from the IxDA conference in Dublin and full of inspiration, I feel like I should put some energy into the London IxDA local group. I think it's time we drummed up some support and made an effort to get some meetups/talks/drinks going. I'd be happy to help out getting this sort of thing going. How about a quick beer one evening with those interested to hatch some plans?
I'm sure we can also recruit some of the other London based conference goers we met over the past few days.
James Kalbach and I are going to
present an overview of our four one-day UxFest courses that will be running in
London from 13-16 March (some of the courses will be available elsewhere, too –
Brussels and at the CHI 2012 conference in Austin Texas. See http://www.syntagm.co.uk/design/schedule.shtml
for full details).
