Maximum permissible delay between user action and feedback from Television

Hi,

I am working on television EPGs. I was wondering about the maximum permissible delay between a user action and the feedback from Television.

Eg: User presses ChannelUP button on the remote control. TV responds to the action by changing channel. What should be the maximum allowed delay between this for a good user experience?

Jakob Nielsen talks about 3 response times - http://www.nngroup.com/articles/response-times-3-important-limits/

I am not sure whether it is applicable for TV watching scenario too.

Change blindness citation

Hi,

I'm looking for a citation relating to change blindness. Specifically, on the case of change blindness being exacerbated by a pause between the states of change.

I seem to recall reading about an experiment where participants were shown a photograph and asked to identify when they perceived that something had changed and then explain the change.

Sixth sense from MIT labs

Just wanted to share this talk from Pattie Maes @ MIT. She takes
interaction with our environment to a whole new level. A fantastic
watch and certainly game-changing technology.

Amber and Yellow color perception

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone could point me to some research or data regarding
human ability to distinguish between the colors yellow and amber? I
have an alarm state prototype, and I'm trying to determine (with
actual research) whether this will pose a problem.

Thanks for any assistance, much appreciated!
