Broadband - For Cheaper And Faster Surfing

internetProvided that you have a broadband connection, a Laptop (or Mac), and a microphone, there's no disgusting thing anyone can do to keep you from podcasting. Some 3 years ago, nobody had any thought to spell out the concept in just about any terms the typical Joe could comprehend, once the word podcast was created.

The New Facebook Redesign: The Beginning of The End?

What say you, people of IXDA?

What say you of the new Facebook design?

What of the usability of this new look? What of the spacing? Is it
efficient? Are the tabs necessary? Or did you like to, with just one
look, understand a person's personal and professional life completely?

More importantly, with the myriad of complaints of said new design,
will this bring the downfall of Facebook here in the US? Into the
halls of history along with Tribe, Friendster, Orkut?

What Colors do Designers like on a Website's Home Page?

We are a design and usability staffing company redesigning our website.
While we have come closer to the layout for our website's home page we are
having a debate on the colors to use on the home page. Since our target
audience would be designers and usability people would you like to suggest
what colors would be appealing to you. I can also send you the
sample/prototype of home page individually if you would like me to and give
some suggestions.

The slow-rise phenomenon

A friend shared a quick fact with me today that reminded me of an
interesting phenomenon. Two quick stories: 1. My friend told me that he made
a few small changes to his site about a week ago, and today, he noticed his
page views have doubled. The first few days that the new design was live,
nothing changed. Now, he has twice the page views. 2. A few months ago, I
worked on the homepage, using some small tweaks to make the
Sign-up method more prominent. The first full day the change went live,
conversions went up 12%, but a week later the conversion rate had increased
by 25%.
