Medium.com says "There's something wrong with the publishing of periodic content on the web (blogging)" and puts forth a new model. What terminology would you use to describe design on that level?

Particularly, I'm interested in how to label this level of design in a portfolio.

I have micro- (or at least low-level) interactions, e.g. what faceted search looks like and how it functions in an ecommerce site.

There's higher-level interactions, like choosing a hub-and-spoke navigation model (yes, one could call this IA) or choosing "Save as new" as opposed to making and changing copies.

Recommendations on UX Journals and Magazines

I am trying to pull together a list of ux academic journals and magazines that not only introduce ux methodologies (both research and design) but also best practices. Off the top of my head, I can think of Interactions and UX Magazine. Anything else that is worth reading? I am interested in both theories and case studies.

I'll be more than happy to share the results with everyone!

a freelance ID's dilemma

Fellow Designers, can we talk creative business career strategy?

Last week, a Bay Area ad agency hired me to "simplify the UI" of a project under the title Senior Interactive Designer. I expected two to three weeks of freelance work, but I didn't see day three. My conundrum concerns leadership.

I get the job and join a team that doesn't trust each other.

Core77 article - The Strategic arc of interaction design

An article of mine was published by core77 yesterday and I'm interested in hearing your reactions. Does the article resonate with you? What did I miss? Get wrong/right?

Designers of interactions have the opportunity to move their purview beyond the shallow plane of interaction into the design of systems, organisational capability and culture; to tackle very complex problems and affect profound and lasting change.

The article is available here: http://bit.ly/dxG5J9

Let me know what you think.

Examples of Experience Vision

I'm looking for more examples of an experience vision (or
"envisionment" as some call it) for a brand, product, service or
organization. Can you help me?

It could be in the form of a narrative, cartoon, video - anything
that tells the story of the customer's experience. Not a product
demo.

Here are some excellent examples I am aware of already:

• Adaptive Path's concept for the Charmr
http://www.adaptivepath.com/charmr/

• Apple's Knowledge Navigator video.

UX Roadmaps

I manage a small UX team within the Product department of a .com. As
part of the overall company strategy each department leader has been
tasked with creating a (gulp) 5 year road map of their respective
departments. I'm not a business school grad and have only seen road
maps and have never created one. Has anyone out there done such a
thing for a UX group and if so do you have any advice or resources
that might help me out.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
Chip
