When to Ask Them to Authenticate

Hey everyone!

Would love to hear your thoughts on what is the best time to ask someone to log in/sign up.  Do you think it is before they perform the action (for which signing up is required), after they perform the action or as part of the action itself?

We have tried all three on our site and haven't noticed a real difference in our metrics.

Identity / Authentication - Change Examples

Hi all-

I am looking for examples in the wild of sites and services that started out with a unique identifier as the login authentication and have recently switched to email as the login authentication.

Anyone seen this recently?

I am interested in documenting how they are alerting users to this shift in auth models and the UI flows that follow.

Any pointers and leads would be appreciated.

thanks

Migrating customers to a new registration system

I am working on a B2C site that is centralizing multiple divisions into a single site. Need to migrate customers from old authentication systems to the new one. Can't auto-migrate credentials (not unique on an enterprise level). (1) Anyone have experience doing this? (2) Any POV on best practices vis a vis UX, customer satisfaction, (3) if a grace period is provided how long should it be (user vistation frequency = monthly.

Two-factor Authentication and Biometrics

Hi,

Out of curiosity, has anybody implemented two-factor authentication
using biometrics (e.g., fingerprint, voice, etc.) as the second
factor?

Thanks!
